NATIONAL LEVEL LAND USE LAND COVER MAPPING USING MULTI-TEMPORAL SATELLITE DATA

Department of Space, Govt. of India has launched the National Resources Census Programme to have a periodic record of all the natural resources at regular intervals using space based remote sensing techniques to generate a Natural Resources Repository. As part of this endeavor, land use/ Land cover mapping on 1:50,000 scale has been envisaged using multi-temporal IRS-P6-LISS III satellite data of the year 2005-06. This process will be repeated in every 5 years interval to map the changes of natural resources.

ORSAC is entrusted to complete the mapping of landuse land cover of the entire state in 1:50,000 scale. The final output and districtwise statistics will be published by Department of Space in March, 2009.
